Necessary Trouble is supporting two great candidates for the Public Service Commission, Peter Hubbard and Alicia Johnson. Hear for yourself the impact they will have on the PSC, our power bills, and the environmental future of Georgia.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) Election is coming up November 4 (early voting starts October 14).
We need to let everyone in Georgia know how important this election is for our pocket books and our environment:
We face some of the largest utility bills in the USA.
The PSC allows GA Power to prioritize shareholder profit over supporting clean and sustainable energy sources.
Regulates the utility rates charged by Georgia Power and Atlanta Gas Light.
Decides how to charge mega-power users like Data Centers.
Determines Georgia’s environmental future:
We are experiencing climate change - worse heat waves, more intense storms, and dirtier air.
Do we want Georgia to move towards Clean Energy Sources or Dangerous Fossil Fuels?
CURRENTLY ALL 5 MEMBERS OF THE PSC ARE REPUBLICAN.
They have raised Georgia Power rates 6X since 2023.
They allow massive Data Centers to pay 80% less than residential rates.
They receive campaign donations from Georgia Power and its attorneys.
They have routinely favored expensive coal and gas fired plants over clean energy generation.
Clean energy lowers bills AND creates jobs (here in GA!)
Democratic candidates, Dr. Alicia Johnson and Peter Hubbard, have decades of experience in renewable energy, community leadership, and public policy.
This year, we can replace two Republicans with these highly-qualified Democrats. TWO SEATS are up for election in this state-wide race. We can VOTE for BOTH.
